When finishing a room, you need to decide between home fragrance, wall art, statues, mirrors and artificial plants. The Home Decor collection offers many ways to add character to your space. You can select scented candles and diffusers from Yankee Candle, Price's and Neom. If you want a statement piece, there are resin statues and wall friezes by Design Toscano. You will also find picture frames from MCS and Walther, wall mirrors by Stonebriar, and artificial topiary and olive trees from GreenBrokers and Leaf. This guide explains how to choose between the different types.
What matters most
The first step is deciding which part of a room you want to update. Home fragrance items change the atmosphere of a space through scent and soft lighting. You can choose a Yankee Candle Signature large jar, a pack of Price's tea lights, or the Neom Wellbeing Pod diffuser. For visual impact, look at statues and wall art. You can add a Design Toscano resin piece to a shelf or hang a wall frieze. If you want to display photographs or posters, pick a frame by MCS or Walther. A Stonebriar wall mirror can add reflection to a hallway. Finally, artificial plants from GreenBrokers and Leaf add greenery without needing water.
How to choose candles and diffusers
When choosing home fragrance, consider the format and the scent notes. The Yankee Candle Signature large jars offer scents like White Spruce & Grapefruit, Christmas Cookie and Black Tea & Lemon. These jars have double wicks and a soy wax blend. If you prefer smaller candles, Price's tea lights come in packs of 25, 50 or 100. The Price's Sentinel tea lights are unscented and burn for up to 8 hours. Price's also makes Chef's jar candles to reduce cooking odours with basil and patchouli. For an electric option, the Neom Wellbeing Pod is an ultrasonic diffuser. You add up to 10 drops of a Neom essential oil blend to its 100ml water tank.
Types of statue and wall art
The Design Toscano range includes both freestanding statues and wall sculptures. Before choosing a statue, check the height in centimetres because photographs flatter size. The Golden Obelisk of Ancient Egypt stands 67.5cm tall on a 15 x 15cm base. The Majestic Stallion horse statue measures 38 x 14 x 33cm and weighs 2.75kg. You can also find a Greek Hoplite Warrior and a Makokou climbing monkey. For your walls, the Rameses I wall frieze is 11 inches tall and hangs from a sawtooth hanger. The Dance of Desire couple wall sculpture is 58.5cm tall. These pieces are hand cast in crushed stone bonded with resin.
Picture frames and mirrors
If you want to frame prints, photographs or puzzles, check the measurements carefully. MCS offers a Studio Gallery wood frame with a grey woodgrain finish at 16 x 20 inches. The MCS Trendsetter poster frame has a high gloss black finish and measures 18 x 24 inches. There is also an MCS back loading puzzle frame at 24 x 30 inches, which uses clear styrene instead of glass. Walther frames include a 50 x 70cm black plastic frame and a 40 x 40cm white plastic frame. For mirrors, Stonebriar offers a rustic redwood wooden frame hanging wall mirror at 24 x 18 inches, and a square 9 panel window pane mirror.
Artificial plants and their care
Artificial trees offer a simple way to decorate without the upkeep of real plants. The GreenBrokers artificial boxwood topiary comes in a triple ball design or a single twist spiral stem, both standing 120cm tall. These are listed for indoor or outdoor display. Leaf provides a 100cm realistic artificial ficus tree with adjustable wired stems and a metal planter. There is also a Leaf 250cm artificial olive tree that comes in a white planter. These artificial plants need nothing but a dust from time to time. You do not need to water or prune them.
The Neom Wellbeing Pod is an ultrasonic essential oil diffuser that requires a USB mains connection. You fill the 100ml water tank and add up to 10 drops of a Neom essential oil blend. You can set it to run continuously or use the timer for 1, 2 or 3 hours. It has an automatic shut off function.
